Oh No! It's a chicken pox

On Sunday 29th of October 2013. It was almost a bed time for my son because it was a school night. Monday would be the first day for his midterm in Elementary School. I had been busy taking care of my nephews and my 6th month old girl, that I didn't realize that he wasn't feel too well. It's typical of Callum, when he's busy playing with his laptop. he does not really care about himself nor others. he did not complain about being unwell, so I did not realize it till I told him to go to bed.

I could feel his heavy breathing. A warning sign popped on my head. I put my palm into his forehead, and he was indeed having a fever. I did not think much of it at first, he always has a fever before exam for some reason. So I just sent him to bed after giving him some meds. Usually he will be okay the next day.

Unfortunately, this was a bit different. He still had a fever the next day so I have to phone up his teacher to let her know that he would not be able to attend school and do his exam. I confidently told her that he would be okay tomorrow.

I was wrong. His fever was down around afternoon and he asked if he could watch TV. and I let him. Then I noticed red spots around his neck and ear. I was not sure at first, but then when I asked him to take of his shirt... there they are.... more red spots all over his back and his body. my first reaction was "Oh No! You've got chicken pox, Callum". and he just smiled as if it was not a big deal.

My first action was calling his teacher to let her know that there was no way he could attend school for at least a week. In my surprise, his teacher was not surprised when I told her that Callum had a chicken pox. It turned out there were 4 other students having the same. I regret her decision not to alarm the parents about this. At least, I can have more preparation about this. but things happen right!

Then I emailed my husband who was outside the country for work. He emailed me immediately about what I should do. He is always good at advising me in critical situation. that is why I love him to death. He is always cool about everything and always sees things in positive point of view. His words always manage to comfort me... always...

Took Callum to doctor around 5 pm. very busy at the doctor office. Callum did not look too good. he only lied down the whole time. Doctor confirmed that he had a chicken pox. I told him that callum had immunization against chicken pox, but he still got it for some reason. He explained that it was 50:50 chance that he gets it even though he was being immunized. Doctor also prescribed some antibody medicine for my 6th month old girl so hopefully she would not contract chicken pox. Cannot imagine if I have to take care two kids with chicken pox all by myself.

Get Well Soon kiddo!

Get to know me and my family

Hi all...

My name is fey. I am a wife to a wonderful man whom I love and respect with all my heart and I am a mother of two, Callum and Jade. Callum is 6 years old boy who is crazy for games and homework :-D and Jade is my five month old girl who just starts exploring the world in her own way.

My Little Family

My two wonderful children, Callum and Jade

And that's me with the love of my life

I am just stay-at-home mom who does the best I can to take care of my family. I am far for perfect as person nor as a wife and a mother. But everyday is a learning process for me to be a better person, a better wife and a better mother. One step at a time, my hubby always said. No one is perfect, right!

I always want to write. Been trying to but something always happens. My mood is one of the factors. Every time I want to write something, I always think "Where should I start? Or "What should I write?". But most of the time, I have always though about, "who's gonna read it?". Then an idea came to my head, "hmm... I am going to write this for my children so that they can read it later when they are old enough." So here I am... trying to write about everything and anything that I can think of. My goal is to keep writing and writing. Hopefully I can accomplish that.
